IIAV Student Awards for studies in Acoustic, Noise and Vibration
The International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV) has been cooperating with the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) and the Acoustical Society of the Netherlands (NAG) since the year 2000 in making scholarship awards to students studying acoustics, noise or vibration for higher degrees. The programme was started in 1995 by the Acoustical Society of America, and including the awards by the IIAV and NAG. So far over 100 fellowship awards have been made by ASA, IIAV and NAG for students to study in their home countries. Up to the present awards have been made to students in Brazil, Egypt, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia and the Ukraine. The awards have mostly been made for studies at the doctoral level, but some have been made for masters level studies.
Applications for IIAV and NAG student fellowship awards should be sent to the IIAV Executive Director, Mechanical Engineering Department, 201 Ross Hall, Auburn University, Auburn, AL 36849, USA, elecronically by attachment to. Applications for ASA awards can be made directly to the Committee for International Research and Education (CIRE) on the ASA website, in the Society Info section (see http://asa.aip.org/cire.html, bottom of the page).
A listing of awards made to Russian students (including photographs and research descriptions) is maintained by the Russian Acoustical Society (RAS) and can be found at http://ras.akin.ru/ in the Activities section, if you click Stipends. Two IIAV student awards have been made each year since 2000 and in addition some private donors have kindly provided funds towards the scholarship awards. Currently the fellowships are $750 USD for one-time non-renewable awards. Those who would like to donate funds towards the scholarship awards are encouraged to contact the IIAV Executive Director at ijav@eng.auburn.edu for further information.
